Sisal:
Our first advice is to keep your basket dry! As they are made only from natural materials, the water can deteriorate its quality.
If you want to use your basket as a plant pot, the best is to keep your plant in a plastic pot on a saucer, or you can round the plant with a thick plastic, so the water won’t touch the basket.
Second, be careful with the direct sunlight if you want to keep the color bright! If the basket is too much exposed to a strong sunlight, the natural dye may fade. But it can also give beautiful results!
Third, if your basket has been flattened for shipping purposes, you may need to reshape it, which is very easy! Simply spray some cold water outside and inside the damaged area, place the basket on a flat surface and use your hands to reshape the basket to its original appearance. You can also use a bowl or pot with a similar shape to get it done!
Recycled wool:
First, as for the sisal, keep your basket dry! Because of its natural materials, the water can deteriorate its quality.
Second, (also as for the Sisal) be careful with the direct sunlight if you want to keep the color bright! If the basket is too much exposed to a strong sunlight, the natural dyed wool may fade. But it can also give beautiful results!
Finally, here is an advice if you need to wash your basket: hand wash in a bucket (or sink) with warm water (not too hot!) is the best solution. Just add some mild soap such as Woolite and slowly massage the basket until it looks clean. Then, rinse it with clean water to remove all the suds. Use a towel to remove the water or hang the basket to drip dry. Be careful to not twist or wring it as this can deteriorate the original shape!
