Irene is a true force of nature. At the age 50, she decided to take action and create her own cooperative that would help women in her village and its surrounding area - an endeavour which has since exploded into success. Today, Korebu employs over 150 people; mainly female weavers who craft beautiful baskets from sisal, banana leaves and other reeds as part of a larger collective with hundreds more employed across Gitara region ensuring important financial aid such as medical care access for their families or sending children to school happens efficiently & effectively.
